Doctoral Studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow allow to obtain advanced knowledge in the domain of „plastic arts" in three artistic disciplines: fine arts, design, and conservation and restoration of works of art. They involve preparation for independent research and creative activities as well as obtaining the research degree of Doctor of Fine Arts. Third cycle studies may be a continuation of doctoral studies commenced at another university of fine arts including foreign ones. The decision concerning possible continuation is taken by the Programme Commission chaired by the Vice-Rector for Research and International Relations.

- application form indicating the artistic discipline and the area of studies within which the candidate intends to prepare doctor al work and dissertation alongside with the form of study (full-time or part-time), - download the application form
• programme of studies and the area of studies as well as the scope of the artistic-research project consulted with the supervisor (the outline of the thesis, assumptions, the area of research, etc.);
- copy of the M.F.A diploma or the equivalent one,
• list of achievements with a particular regard to professional interests, artistic/design/conservation, individual exhibitions and participation In group exhibitions, documentation of artistic/design/conservation activities, realization of designs or conservation realizations, traineeships and participation in open-air sessions, artistic scholarships, participation in artistic life, • Diploma Supplement or the description of studies certified by the home university or certified copy of the academic book of records,
- certificate or certification confirming the command of a foreign language,
• statement of the Academy's educator, possessing the title of a professor of art or the assistant professor of art (2nd-degree qualifications) on his/her consent to supervise the candidate's artistic-research work,

Qualification procedure
|
- The qualification procedure is an exam conducted in the form of an interview, scored on the basis of submitted documents and portfolio with reference to the discipline and the area of study within which the candidate intends to prepare his/her doctoral work and thesis.
- Candidates will be assessed for:
- portfolio: 0-6 points, - programme of studies, the area and the scope of their artistic-research project: 0-8 points, - grade entered into the diploma: 0-3 points (excellent - 3 points, very good - 2 points, good - 1 point, lower grades - 0 points), - artistic output, list of achievements: 0-5 points, - interview: 0-8 points Total score: a candidate may obtain the maximum of 30 points. The exam is deemed passed if the candidate obtains at least 15 points. The total score is the basis for establishing the position of the candidate on the ranking list. Candidates who have obtained the best score, shall be admitted to studies.

Notes on scoring
|
The list of admitted persons is established on the basis of the ranking list of the results. Candidates in the number of corresponding admission limit, who shall be placed on the best positions on the ranking list, shall be admitted.
