Brera Academy of Fine Arts calls for young European stage designers. The contest subject is the lyric work Il Trovatore by Giuseppe Verdi.
Works will be displayed in a themed exhibition from March 1st to 15th, 2011 and a catalog will be printed for the event.
1. Any Italian or European Academy of Fine Arts can take part to the competition, selecting one single project.
2. All students regularly enrolled in a stage design course can participate. Groups of students may participate with collective projects and the group should appoint a representative to submit an application on behalf of the group.
3. The Competition deadline is June 19th, 2010 (attested posting date). Every institution can apply filling in the attached schedule for their selected project.
4. Within January 10th 2011 (attested posting date), each single Institution should send all the parts of the project in a single cover to:

All the parts have to be identifiable by putting on the back side of each picture and of the digital devices the first and last name as well as the projects and texts frontispiece.
5. All the projects must be unpublished and they cannot have participated in a previously stage designers national or international contest.
6. The participation to the contest is free.
7. Call for papers and materials:
a. Application Form filled in, signed and stamped by the Responsible of the Institution as well as signed by the selected student/appointed for a group.
b. Applicant's CV
c. Title and detailed text of the project's presentation
d. Graphic and project elaborates: maquettes, photographic services, costumes.
e. Digital device containing all the records requested at points a - b - c - d.
f. A maquette on a 1:50 scale (considering the measures of a typical Lyric Theater, selected by the candidate)
8. Dispatch of the works: all the parts of the application have to be sent in a rigid packaging. All the works with the catalogue have to be collected within 15 days after the end of the exhibition. The shipping and sending fees have to be charged to the participating Institution.
9. Awards: the awards will be classified in:
1st Prize 2000,00 Euro
2nd Prize 1500,00 euro
3rd Prize 500,00 euro
4th Prize 500,00 euro
5th Prize 500,00 euro
6th prize 500,00 euro
The winners will be awarded during the exhibition opening. The winning project will be property of the organization and will complement its collection. The copyrights will remain to the author, but she/he will grant rights for free in case of future use by the organization in eventual nonprofit events.
10. The communication of the winning work will be sent by a registered letter.
The results will be published on the website .accademiadibrera.milano.it and will be broadcasted through papers, traditional and digital media.
10. A qualified examination board of experts , editors and artists will evaluate the works.
11. In order to participate to the call for, the candidates have to subscribe all points of the present regulation and authorize the organization to use for publishing the works on specialized papers and catalogs.
12. Brera Academy of Fine Arts, though assuring to take care of all the equipments, declines all responsibility about stealing, fire and damages to people and equipments, that might happen during the exhibition.
