Council is the collegiate body of the Academy of Fine Arts established under the Act on Higher Education and Science and the Statute of the Academy of Fine Arts. It consists of six members elected by the Senate: three from the Academy and three from outside, and a student representative.

The council has broad duties and powers, among which it is worth mentioning opinions on draft strategy and statutes, monitoring of financial management, monitoring of university management, indicating candidates for rector.
The Council is chaired by prof. dr hab. Jacek Osiewalski, scientist and lecturer at the University of Economics, and includes: director of Cricoteka, Ms Natalia Zarzecka, Honorary Consul of Austria in Krakow and founder of the RE-Bau Group, Mr. Andrzej Tombiński, dr Marta Bożyk, graphic artist and lecturer at the Academy of Fine Arts, dr hab. Grzegorz Biliński, prof. Academy of Fine Arts, architect, intermedia artist and lecturer at the Academy of Fine Arts, Sławomir Sobczyk, MA, an employee of the Main Library of the Academy of Fine Arts and the chairman of the Student Government Mateusz Kordas, our student.
Other persons from the university community may participate in meetings of the university council with an advisory vote.
