Professor dr hab. Stanisław Tabisz - Rector of the Academy of Fine Arts Jan Matejko in Krakow
Born on April 19, 1956 in Domaradz (Podkarpackie Voivodeship). He studied at the Faculty of Graphics (1977-1978) and the Faculty of Painting (1978-1982) at the Academy of Fine Arts. Jan Matejko in Krakow in the studios of Assoc. Zbigniew Kowalewski, prof. Juliusz Joniak and prof. Tadeusz Brzozowski, he studied drawing in the studio of prof. Zbylut Grzywacz.
He received his master's diploma at the Faculty of Painting in the studio of prof. Juliusz Joniak in 1982. He was an assistant to prof. Zbysław M. Maciejewski (1983-1997). Since 2000, he has been running the Painting Studio II at the Graphic Arts Department of the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow.
Works: He deals with painting, drawing, graphic design, set design and art criticism. He is the author of over 60 individual exhibitions of painting and drawing in Poland and abroad. He took part in over 150 collective exhibitions of painting and drawing. He has received several awards in environmental and national competitions. Has works in the collections of national and regional museums as well as private collections in Poland and abroad. The bibliography on creativity has over 130 items.
Stanisław Tabisz is the author and co-author of the concept of problem and view exhibitions: "New art from old Krakow" - Darmstadt, "Krakowski spleen" - Warsaw, "Still life - the first lady of art" - Krakow. He is a co-initiator (with artists G. Bednarski and A. Małek) of the prestigious "Prize Witolda Wojtkiewicza ”awarded for several years by ZPAP Kraków District. He served as curator for 6 editions designing and editing the catalogs of laureates. He was the general curator and was the organizational director of the "Festival of the 100th Anniversary of the ZPAP Krakow District" - a great jubilee event in which, in 2011, presented the works of about 700 artists in five galleries of Krakow. the festival included, among others The great "Salon of the 100th Anniversary of the ZPAP of the Krakow District" presented in September 2011 in the three largest art galleries in Krakow: at the GSW Bunkier Sztuki, the TPSP Art Palace and the Galeria Pryzmat ZPAP of the Krakow District.
He performed in the Piwnica pod Baranami cabaret (in 1983-1988), singing, among others. works by Zbigniew Preisner and Grzegorz Turnau. He also realized (together with Kazimierz Madej) scenery during international cabaret concerts in Europe and North America (1985 - 1987).
He is the author of the set design for Zbigniew Preisner's concerts "My Christmas Carols at the End of the Century" at the Old Theater in Krakow (1999) and the National Theater in Warsaw (2000) and for the film music concert "White - Red - Blue" in Bielsko-Biała.
Work at the Academy: He runs the "Painting Studio II" in the Department of Drawing and Painting at the Faculty of Graphic Arts of the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow (since 2000). He received the title of professor of fine arts from the President of the Republic of Poland in 2005. He was the dean of the Faculty of Graphic Arts of the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow for two terms (in 2002-2008). He was a member of the Senate of the Krakow Academy in the term of office (2008-2012). He has written over 40 reviews for doctoral, postdoctoral and postdoctoral dissertations, promoting teaching staff at various art colleges in Poland. He was a promoter of 3 doctorates.
Elected Rector of the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow for the term 2012 - 2016.
Activities outside the Academy: He published several hundred monographic articles and problem essays on artists and contemporary art in: Krakow Time, Architecture & Business, Literary Decade, Dziennik Polski, Voice of Artists, Show, Arteon, Scientific Notebooks of the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow, Academy News, in the monthly social - cultural KRAKÓW.
For many years he held responsible positions in the Association of Polish Artists. He was a board member and secretary of the Association of Polish Artists in the Main Board in Warsaw (in 1993–1999) and the president of the ZPAP of the Krakow District for three terms (from 2002 to 2014). in total, he devoted over 20 years to trade union activities.
He was the editor of the "District Guide of the Krakow District", 17 issues (2004-2014) sent each time to members of the District of the Krakow District Union and cultural institutions. He is the author and content editor (together with J. Woziwodzki) of the unique, historical publishing house (album) 'STO LAT ZPAP. Monograph of ZPAP of the Krakow District. " 300 pages, approx. 310 photos (2011). As the Rector of the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow in 2012-2016 term, he was the editor-in-chief of the quarterly 'ASP News' (2012-2016).
Invited to the program councils of cultural institutions and the jury of many art competitions of international and national rank. He is a member of the Program Council of the National Museum in Krakow (appointed by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage of the Republic of Poland). For several years, the President of the City of Krakow has been appointing prof. Stanisław Tabisz to the team awarding a scholarship from the President of Krakow for young artists.
