The “100×100 – An Artistic Reinterpretation of Andrzej Wajda’s Legacy” project is an interdisciplinary artistic initiative organized by the Association of Friends of the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków, in collaboration with the Jan Matejko Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków as a project partner.
The goal of the project is to encourage young artists to creatively reinterpret the body of work of Andrzej Wajda and to promote the legacy of one of the most important figures in 20th-century Polish culture through artistic, educational, and digital initiatives.
As part of the project, 100 original works of art are being created using a variety of techniques—ranging from painting and installations to digital media. The works are organized into six thematic tracks inspired by the work of Andrzej Wajda: film, theater, unproduced projects, visual arts, literature, and his fascination with Japanese culture.
The project includes lectures and research- and interpretation-based workshops, creative work by students under the guidance of faculty members at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków, and curatorial consultations. At the same time, a digital online catalog is being developed, which will provide access to documentation of the works, scholarly texts, and multimedia materials, in accordance with WCAG 2.2 accessibility standards.
The project will culminate in a concluding exhibition, scheduled for February 2026 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków. The exhibition is being organized in the spirit of sustainable development and the zero-waste philosophy, using existing resources and recycled materials.
The project is co-financed by the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (KPO),
, as part of investment A2.5.1—Program to Support the Activities of Entities in the Cultural Sector and Creative Industries.
Funded by the European Union— NextGenerationEU.
