A special, one-time screening of the film “The Joy of Discovery: Antoni Haska” will take place on Wednesday, October 21, at 6:00 p.m. in the Academy of Fine Arts Auditorium, 13 Matejki Square. We cordially invite you to attend! Admission is free.
Antoni Haska was professionally affiliated with the Jan Matejko Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków, where he worked for nearly three decades. He was one of the founders of the Department of Industrial Design and served as its dean from 1970 to 1972, 1972–1975. He worked in painting and graphic arts, created painterly and sculptural compositions in architecture, and conducted research on color in the visual environment. He also created films using the non-camera technique. For many years, he served as head of the Department of Color in Industrial Spaces / Department of Industrial Color Design at his home faculty. He became an associate professor in 1979 and was promoted to full professor in 1990.

Antoni Haska’s solo exhibitions include: “Heuristic Games I” (Bunkier Sztuki, 1975), “Kinesthetic Arrangements—Fields of Signs” (BWA Pavilion, Toruń, 1976), “Heuristic Games II” (Krzysztofory Gallery, 1987), “Signs in the Landscape” (DESA Kraków, 1987), and “Toward Semiotics” (DESA Kraków, 1987).
In 1975, Haska was awarded the Art Critics’ Prize. The artist’s works are included in the collections of the National Museum in Kraków, the National Museum in Warsaw, the Zachęta National Gallery of Art, the Museum of Folk Art in Oslo, and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Tokyo.
The narrative of the film “The Joy of Discovery: Antoni Haska” unfolds on two levels. The first is the story of Antoni Haska’s life and work; at the same time, we follow the two owners of the Dyląg Gallery, who have taken up residence in the artist’s former studio and are documenting his body of work and legacy.
