Accommodation
Dormitories
The Academy does not have its own halls of residence. You can try to find a room in other Universities’ dorms (there are plenty of them in Kraków), but please note, that the students of these schools have a priority.
Private housing
Another popular option is renting a private flat or room. There is a wide range of advertisements available online (property portals, social media groups and student forums); however, caution is strongly advised, as scams still occur. Sharing a flat with other students usually offers a higher standard of living while keeping monthly costs at a level comparable to student dormitories.
Rental prices depend on several factors, including:
- type of accommodation (single room, shared room, studio or whole flat),
- location (distance from the city centre),
- standard and facilities.
As of 2026, typical monthly rental costs in Kraków are:
- PLN 1,200–1,700 for a single room in a shared apartment,
- PLN 900–1,200 for a shared room,
- PLN 2,300–3,200 for a studio or one‑bedroom flat,
- PLN 3,200–4,000+ for larger apartments or high‑standard flats close to the centre.
A security deposit (usually equal to one month’s rent) is standard practice when signing the contract. Please note that utilities (electricity, gas, heating, water, Internet, Wi‑Fi, etc.) are often not included in the rental price and are settled separately. Students are strongly advised to sign a written agreement with the landlord specifying all rental terms and conditions.
Location and commuting
We recommend choosing older, well‑connected districts located within 2–2.5 km (1–1.5 miles) of the city centre. These areas usually offer lower rental prices while still providing good access to universities and public transport.
Accommodation in outer residential districts — mostly built during the communist era — is often cheaper; however, the standard of living may be lower, and daily commuting time can reach up to one hour each way during peak traffic.
Monthly heating costs (and thermal comfort) vary significantly depending on the system:
- central heating – most efficient and usually the cheapest,
- gas heating – moderate costs,
- electric heating – typically the most expensive.
Utility costs for a standard apartment may range from PLN 400 to 900 per month, depending on usage and heating type.
